BCLA’s 7th Annual Biotech Summit

10/16/2021
Bioscience LA 4130 Overland Ave Culver City, CA 90230 United States

Our 7th Annual Biotech Summit will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10 AM to 4 PM in-person at the new BioscienceLA space in Culver City. This year, we’re looking ahead with the theme “How LA’s Biotech Landscape is Shaping the Future.” Our keynote speaker will be Nick Goeden, Co-founder and Vice President of Technology at Capsida Biotherapeutics.

Following the keynote speech, the first panel discussion will be on “Biotech and a Sustainable Future.” As sustainability becomes prioritized to slow the detrimental effects of climate change, many solutions have arisen from biotech innovations. Featuring Gabriel Levesque-Tremblay (Co-founder and CTO of Orbillion Bio), Jim Cooper (CTO and Managing Partner of Braid Theory), Jane Palmer (Founder and CEO of Nature Coatings), Andy Navarrete (Postdoctoral Researcher at the USC Wrigley Institute), and moderated by Arye Lipman (General Partner at MarsBio), we will discuss recent advances in foodtech, bluetech, materials, and biofuels and the future outlook.

Our second panel discussion will be on “The Future of Clinical Trials.” The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst for the large-scale incorporation of remote technology as well as for streamlining methodologies. In this panel, we will discuss what tools and lessons have been learned as we proceed to conduct clinical trials during and post-pandemic. Featuring Lucy Coassin (Senior Director of Pharma Partnerships at Current Health), Wout Brusselaers (Founder and CEO of Deep6 AI), Theresa Caban (Director of Clinical Trials at the Lundquist Institute), Ted Barduson (Co-founder and COO of MedVector), Josh Goldsmith (General Manager at Q Squared Lab Solutions), and moderated by Amit Rushi (CCO of Bodyport).

For all those who are unable to attend the live event, the keynote speech and panel discussions will be recorded and available at a later date. For those attending in-person, there will also be networking opportunities and breakout sessions with biotech industry mentors and start-up advisors.
