[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Initial Results Show Growing Need for Innovative Talent Strategies

April 1, 2019 – LifeSciHub, an online resource marketplace designed for life sciences R&D, today announced initial results from their First Life Sciences Workforce Annual Survey.

The survey, which launched on October 1, 2018, targeted hiring managers, HR professionals, and independent consultants operating in the life sciences research and development space.
Response data showed a continuing demand for quality talent that is tempered by a pervasive perception of talent scarcity. On the topic of talent acquisition, 71% of hiring managers and HR professionals chose quality of talent (over speed and cost) as having the biggest impact on corporate goals. 100% considered skilled consultants difficult to find but only 4% report ever using an online resource marketplace as part of their talent acquisition strategy.

From the independent consultant perspective, 82% of those surveyed prefer part-time work, 73% prefer short term projects and 91% prefer to work remotely. 48% dislike finding new projects and 73% dislike the administrative aspects of running a consulting business.

The majority of hiring managers (82%) also found that finding the best quality of talent/expertise is challenging and in need of improvement. Since 78% of hiring managers are satisfied with the quality of talent/expertise of independent consultants there should be an opportunity to leverage them more across R&D.
Initial survey data suggests that the supply and demand sides of this equation are currently not connecting. There is a bourgeoning opportunity to disrupt ineffective traditional talent acquisition strategies with the online resource marketplace model that has transformed other industries.

Sheila Mahoney, cofounder and CEO of LifeSciHub commented, “We collected some really valuable insights from our initial results. The responses helped us to better understand the important role that LifeSciHub needs to take on as we enhance the platform to support hiring managers and independent consultants in the gig economy.”

LifeSciHub will use the data to drive innovations in its product development activities and will also leverage these insights to inform go-to-market strategies targeting the various stakeholder groups.
